UWCS 2010 Progcomp sponsored by Accenture

Welcome

Welcome to the University of Warwick Computing Society 2010 Programming Competition. The competition is open to all Warwick Students and all Computing Society members (you do not need to be a member of CompSoc to enter). The competition will consist of 5 problems, 1 each week for the 2nd half of term 2. You may submit solutions to any problem from when it is released until 3 weeks into the Easter holidays (we realise people have deadlines at the end of term), the final deadline is Sunday 11th April 23:59. Your top 4 solutions out of a potential 5 will count as your final score.

Prizes

Prizes will be given out at the start of term 3, the top prize will be a netbook computer. Depending on the number and distribution of entrants runner up prizes will consist of a larger prize for the best fresher entry (if you are a fresher this means you should enter!), and a number of smaller runner up prizes. Entrants who are members of CompSoc but not current students at Warwick will not be eligible for the top prize, but will be able to win runner up prizes. There will be more details on the prizes once the competition is underway.

Marking

Submissions will be marked in 3 parts, each part will receive a mark out of 10 totalling 30 marks for each submission. Multiple submissions for each problem are allowed, however there will be a penalty of up to 10% per resubmission at the markers disgression (small typos will not be heavily penalised, complete rewrites will). Each submission will be marked on the correctness of the solution (i.e. does it do what we asked), the efficiency/quality of the solution (i.e. does it do what we asked quickly/well, some problems will have clarification of how this will be marked), and also the quality of the code (i.e. is it readable, well commented etc).

Other info

Submissions should be your own work and by one person, if you use someone elses work as part of your code make sure you make it obvious. Submissions may be in any language that we can reasonably test and mark. Submissions are all made through this site, create an account and log in to access the submission form. If you have any questions please email us at compsoc-exec@uwcs.co.uk, otherwise, Good Luck!
